The Sephardic Foundation on Aging Awards JFS $60,000 Grant

Jewish Family Service of Atlantic & Cape May Counties (JFS) is committed to assisting aging adults, including Holocaust Survivors, who reside in the region with programs and services available through the agency’s Lynn Kramer Village by the Shore. Specifically, the Village provides two of its most vital services – Care Coordination and Transportation.

As community members age, they face concerns and questions around end-of-life planning and care – which are often complex and very personal. JFS’ team of Village Care Coordinators are committed to providing one-on-one support for older adults around these matters. The Care Coordinator will serve as an advocate to address financial, healthcare, benefits, and legal issues, should family be unable to provide assistance.

According to USAging, “With more than 1 in 5 Americans older than age 65 not driving, demand for transportation is steadily increasing as the boomer population continues to grow.” At JFS, Village drivers offer reliable transportation to the supermarket, medical appointments, lunch with friends, shopping, community programs, and more. With transportation being one of the Village’s most sought-after programs, our agency understands the value as to how socialization can positively affect a person’s quality of life.

“The Lynn Kramer Village by the Shore is a prime example of communities caring for their older members, ensuring the ability to continue living at home with dignity and support.  The Sephardic Foundation on Aging is proud to continue our partnership with JFS,” said Joshua Hoffman, Executive Director of The Sephardic Foundation on Aging.
