While millions of sports enthusiasts will watch the 57th annual ‘big game’ on television, JFS will host its annual ‘Soup’er Bowl. To help combat hunger, JFS will hold a campaign to collect hundreds of canned soups to assure community members have a hot and hearty meal during the cold winter months.

Dawn Ragland has been appointed to the position of Director of Healthy Community Initiatives for JFS. In this role, Dawn will manage The Lynn Kramer Village by the Shore, which offers programs and services for older adults, The Rothenberg Center for Family Life, which provides health education and wellness programs, Volunteer Services, and the Food Pantry. Dawn will also handle the development and application of grants related to support for older adults and other community members.

With generous support from the community, JFS was once again able to provide traditional Thanksgiving dinners to residents in need. Throughout October and November, JFS collected monetary donations and non-perishable food which affords our agency the opportunity to provide 670 meals throughout the holidays to families in the region.

OceanFirst Foundation continues its dedicated support of Jewish Family Service of Atlantic & Cape May Counties (JFS) by presenting a $12,500 grant to benefit The Lynn Kramer Village by the Shore. This program provides an array of concierge, professional and volunteer services, and socialization for residents age 50+.

Jewish Family Service of Atlantic & Cape May Counties (JFS) brought together staff, Board members, community partners, and supporters on October 19th to dedicate a wall art installation in the Margate office boardroom. Inspired by the agency’s Anti-Racism Committee (ARC), the design was created to showcase the staff and the work they do in support of JFS’ core value “tikkun olam” (healing the world). The core value is written in seven languages and the wall displays three large screens highlighting staff, community and business supporters, volunteers, events, and awards. The dedication is another step in the agency’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

As the elevated need for food continues in the region, members of Beth El Synagogue, Congregation Beth Israel, Shirat Hayam, and Temple Beth Shalom as well as community individuals, hosted a High Holiday collection to support JFS. The agency received more than 220 bags of food which will stock the pantry’s shelves to assist individuals and families in the community.
