Jewish Family Service of Atlantic & Cape May Counties (JFS) is pleased to introduce its newest initiative, Housing Supports Program (HSP), in collaboration with Managed Care Organizations (MCO). This program is designed to help New Jersey FamilyCare members, who are experiencing or at-risk of homelessness, connect with resources needed to maintain stable housing.
“At JFS, we firmly believe housing is not a privilege – it’s a human right,” said Laura Rodgers, Chief Impact Officer. “While affordable housing is an issue across the nation, and in particular, the South Jersey region, we are committed to ensuring people have a safe, stable place to live and call home.”
Participants receive one-on-one case management to create individualized housing plans, support in locating housing, and access to financial assistance for moving expenses. Additionally, JFS provides wraparound support including eviction diversion, rental assistance, legal service referrals, help with benefits like SNAP and SSI, and connections to utility and remediation services. In the initial program year, JFS hopes to assist 145 NJ FamilyCare members gain and retain stable housing.
HSP is available to residents of Atlantic & Cape May Counties who are 18 years of age or older, enrolled in New Jersey Medicaid with an active managed care organization, and facing medical, mental health, or functional challenges impacting their ability to maintain stable housing. This includes anything from chronic illness and substance abuse to pregnancy, developmental disabilities, or frequent emergency room visits. JFS is committed to moving people from housing insecurity to housing stability and overall wellness.
