VILLAGE SOCIAL: Bau, Artist at War Movie, Light Kosher Dinner, Discussion, Art Display, and Sale

Experience the inspiring true story of artist Joseph Bau, whose humor, creativity, and courage helped others survive the Holocaust while he found love with fellow prisoner Rebecca Tannenbaum in the Plaszów concentration camp.

The couple married in 1943, and their remarkable journey of love, resilience, and hope unfolds in Bau, Artist at War. The film highlights Rebecca’s extraordinary role in saving Joseph’s life. Fluent in nine languages, including German, she ultimately connected with Oskar Schindler, whose intervention ensured Joseph’s survival. The film encompasses the story of local second-generation Holocaust survivor Mindelle Pierce, as told in her book, Love with No Tomorrow.

Following the screening, there will be a discussion with the couple’s daughters, Hadasa & Clila, who will share their family’s legacy. Guests will have the opportunity to view and purchase original artwork. Proceeds benefit the Joseph & Rebecca Bau Museum in Tel Aviv. A light dinner will be served.
