Village Goes to the Ventnor Farmers Market
Friday, August 1, 15, and 29 from 8:30am to 12pm each day
Come visit or volunteer at the Village informational table at the Ventnor Farmers Market, located on New Haven and Atlantic Avenues in the St. James Church parking lot. Meet, greet and share your enthusiasm for Village events, programs, and services as you enjoy sunshine, sea air and an opportunity to shop from local farmers and vendors. Admission is free.
36th Annual JFS House Tour
Monday, August 4 from 11am to 4pm
The highly-anticipated House Tour, presented by Surroundings Interiors, will provide guests with the rare opportunity to view several luxurious Downbeach homes that feature state-of-the-art gourmet kitchens, custom woodworking, unique décor and lighting, and beautiful landscaping. All attendees will enjoy a complimentary lunch sponsored by Benjamin F. Edwards, Goldman Sachs, and Oasis Property Group, and a complimentary ice cream sandwich or frozen banana treat sponsored BAYADA Home Health Care, Fountain View at Logan Square, Peace Pie, and The Original Banana Company. Join Village Community Specialist Tina Serota for a book club gathering. This month, we will discuss the novel, The Librarian of Burned Books, by Brianna Labuskes. This captivating WWII-era story focuses on the intertwined fates of three women who believe in the power of books to triumph over the very darkest moments of war. Lunch Around Town

Village Film Society

Join Village Film Enthusiast & Historic Cinematic Buff Tom Celandine and Village Community Specialist Tina Serota for a discussion of the comedy, City Slickers, which follows three friends – Billy Crystal, Bruno Kirby, and Daniel Stern – who have a pact to vacation each year without their wives. During their midlife crisis, the inexperienced cowboy city dwellers decide to reignite their masculinity by taking a supervised cattle drive across the Midwest. Musical Connections

Feel the stress of the day peel away as we share familiar tunes from various genres (Broadway, Classical, Contemporary, Jazz) and instruments with friends and neighbors. 11th Annual Village Card Party
Thursday, August 21 from 10:30am to 2:30pm
Presented by the Gurwicz Family, players can look forward to exciting games of Mahjong, Canasta, and Bridge as well as lunch, auction items, and door prizes at the event hosted at Harbor Pines Golf Club, 500 Saint Andrews Drive, Egg Harbor Township. Participants should organize their own table with friends and family. Others will be randomly assigned to a table. Players must bring their own cards or game set. Tickets are $136 which includes game play, lunch buffet, and 10 basket tickets for a chance to win great prizes. Or, guests may purchase a $100 ticket which includes game play and lunch buffet. American Jewish Committee Summer Program

Join AJC Philadelphia/Southern New Jersey, Stockton University Sara & Sam Schoffer Holocaust Resource Center, Board of Jewish Education, and Jewish Federation of Atlantic & Cape May Counties, as we welcome Benjamin Rogers, AJC Director, Middle East and North Africa Initiatives; Deputy Director, CNME, and Dalia Ziada, Egyptian Human Rights Activist, for an educational discussion exploring the complexity of antisemitism and geopolitical dynamics in the Middle East. The program will be moderated by Kaleem Shabazz, President of the Atlantic City Branch of the NAACP & Bridge of Faith. Summer Book Club & Bagel Brunch

Join Board of Jewish Education, Jewish Federation of Atlantic & Cape May Counties, and JFS’ Village by the Shore as we welcome educator Meryl Rodgers who will explore the extraordinary memoir, Kissing Girls on Shabbat, by Dr. Sara Glass. The novel reflects Dr. Glass coming to terms with her sexuality and the deeper implications of leaving the constraints of her upbringing. Throwback Thursday: The Lost Shuls of Atlantic City

Join Board of Jewish Education, Jewish Federation of Atlantic & Cape May Counties, and JFS’ Village by the Shore as they retrace The Lost Shuls of Atlantic City. BJE Director Josh Cutler will revisit seven shuls time erased, offering a glimpse into a lost Jewish world by the shore. Whether you are a history lover, nostalgic, or curious about Atlantic City’s untold stories, this program will be of great interest. A complimentary bagel brunch will be served. Attend in-person at Temple Beth Shalom, 4419 West Brigantine Avenue, Brigantine. RSVP by August 25.
