DIY Container Gardening: Spring Bulbs & Flowers

Tuesday, April 2 from 10:30am to 11:30am

Spring is in the air! Join us live from Tina Serota’s front porch for a demonstration on planning, creating, and maintaining your own manageable bulbs and flowers container garden. Get your porch, balcony, or deck ready for the season! This program is via Zoom and a link will be emailed. RSVP by March 28.

Art Comes Alive: Compare & Contrast

Wednesday, April 3 from 1pm to 2pm

Join us as local award-winning artist Shirley Belitsky shares her journey through comparing and contrasting the same subject matter when it is viewed by different artists through the use of light, color, technique, and brushstrokes. Learn how an artist uses elements of design to share life experiences while invoking an era, time, place, and history. Light refreshments will be served. Positivity Project: Morning Refresh

Thursday, April 4 from 10:30am to 11:30am

Start the day in an upbeat way! Explore positivity with JFS Wellness Coordinator Mary Jean Arreola and Village Community Specialist Tina Serota. You’ll learn ways to boost wellness – mind, body, and soul. Topics include self-care, mindfulness, gratitude, meditation, and resiliency. This program is via Zoom and a link will be emailed. Women’s Coffee & Conversation – Reframing Aging Together

Monday, April 8 from 10:30am to 11:30am

Join Village Community Specialist Tina Serota, Bratton Law Group’s Jen Hand, Katz JCC’s Bridget Giblin, Angelic Health’s Carolyn Johnson Peterson, Alzheimer’s Association’s Mary Beth Lewis, and UMC’s Michele Musto as they host monthly professional speakers on issues that impact a woman’s ability to live her best life. In April, the topic will focus on Reframing Aging Through a Positive Lens. Stockton University’s SCOSA Senior Operations Specialist and Adjunct Faculty Member in Gerontology Gina Maguire will discuss how to create a meaningful life while finding purpose and passion, building strong relationships, and giving back to the community. Memory Connections

Monday, April 8 from 1pm to 2:30pm

Join Village Community Specialist Tina Serota, Alzheimer’s Association’s Mary Beth Lewis, Angelic Health’s Carolyn Johnson Peterson, Bratton Law Group’s Jen Hand, UMC’s Michele Musto, and Katz JCC’s Bridget Giblin for a gathering of Caregivers of loved ones with Dementia and the person living with the disease. Caregivers will participate in a support group led by a trained professional while their loved one will enjoy a socialization activity. Light refreshments will be served. Attend in-person at the Katz JCC Boardroom, 501 North Jerome Avenue, Margate. RSVP by April 3.

Village Film Society

Tuesday, April 9 from 10:30am to 11:30am

Join Village Film Enthusiast & Historic Cinematic Buff Tom Celandine and Village Community Specialist Tina Serota for a discussion about the Oscar award-winning movie, Oppenheimer. The star-studded film follows the appointment of Physicist J. Robert Oppenheimer by Lieutenant General Leslie Groves, Jr. to work on a top-secret Manhattan Project during WWII. Oppenheimer and a team of scientists spend years developing and designing the atomic bomb and when their work comes to fruition, they witness the world’s first nuclear explosion, forever changing their lives and the course of history. The movie can be viewed on Peacock, Prime Video, and Apple TV or is available on DVD at the Ventnor and Margate libraries. This program is via Zoom and a link will be emailed. RSVP by April 4.

Mahjong & Canasta Brunch

Wednesday, April 10 beginning at 11am

Join friends and neighbors for a delightful afternoon of strategic game play, vibrant conversations and a delectable brunch. This program takes place at the Katz JCC Auditorium, 501 North Jerome Avenue in Margate and provides a perfect day of socializing, competition and fun. Memoir Workshop

Experience the thrill of capturing life’s adventures, history, and ancestry with the Memoir Workshop led by award-winning author and Drexel University Director of Certificate Program in Writing and Publishing, Harriet Levin Millan. Lunch Around Town

Enjoy a leisurely lunch with friends while supporting a local restaurant. This month, we’ll dine at the Water Dog Smoke House, located at 7319 Ventnor Avenue in Ventnor. Come prepared for good food and conversation. Order off the menu and pay individually. RSVP by April 11.

Memory Café: Ocean City

Tuesday, April 30 from 10:30am to 12pm

Caregivers and their loved ones living with Dementia are invited to join Village and UMC representatives in a Dementia friendly space. Experience creativity and social connections through art, music, gentle movements, and more. Attend in-person at the Ocean City Free Public Library, 1735 Simpson Avenue in Ocean City. RSVP by April 24.
