Volunteer Services

Jewish Family Service serves more than 13,000 local individuals and families per year through our vast services, but we need your help. By donating your time and talents, you can make a difference for thousands living in Atlantic and Cape May Counties.

Unloading Food Bank Order

2nd and 4th Tuesdays of Each Month, 8:30am

Volunteers appreciated to help unload our monthly food delivery from the Community Food Bank. Usually about 1 to 2 pallets worth food needed to be brought from outside into the boardroom or pantry. Ability to lift 20-30 lbs.

Friendly Visitors

Once a Week

Volunteers needed to socialize with Village members on a weekly basis. Discuss current events, shared hobbies, etc. either in-person or over Zoom. This is a great way to have fun and decrease isolation. Activities may include going for a walk, meeting at the boardwalk, talking about the news, etc.

Fundraisers

Volunteers needed at fundraising events, including Cocktail Party, JFS & JCC Golf Tournament, House Tour, The Lynn Kramer Village by the Shore Card Party and Farm to Table Dinner. Duties includes registration/check-in, monitoring contests, selling raffle tickets, and more.

Food Deliveries

Every Week

Volunteers needed to deliver food bags, or Kosher Meals each week. Food is picked up at the JFS Margate office and delivered to a community member’s home. JFS provide deliveries throughout Atlantic County, from Hammonton to Atlantic City. This role requires the use of a cellphone, GPS, and vehicle.

On-Call

At times we have a need for substitutes to fill in as needed.

Grocery Shopping

Every Week

Volunteers needed to grocery shop for community members throughout Atlantic County. You would retrieve supplies (credit card, grocery list, member's information) from JFS Margate office, shop for the member, and return JFS supplies after groceries have been delivered. This role requires the use of a vehicle and you must be comfortable calling the member to confirm delivery time.

Volunteering as a Team

Schools, businesses, families and friends are encouraged to volunteer as a team. JFS offers the following opportunities:

  • Participate in the annual Turkey Drive. Each year, JFS collects enough Thanksgiving supplies to feed more than 400 families. Volunteers are needed to collect food, sort, pack and label bags.
  • Support JFS by hosting a food drive or by participating in a JFS sponsored event. Volunteers are needed at local grocery stores to hand out flyers to shoppers. At the conclusion of the food drive, volunteers are also need to assist with delivery back to JFS in Margate.
  • Volunteers are always appreciated to help unload the monthly food delivery from the Community Food Bank. This is typically 1 to 2 pallets worth food.
