The Lynn Kramer Village by the Shore at Jewish Family Service of Atlantic & Cape May Counties (JFS) offers a host of fun, interactive and interesting programs in June. With virtual and in-person options, you, your family, friends, and neighbors will enjoy these eight programs.

Thoughts from the Bookshelf

Tuesday, June 4 from 3pm to 4pm

Join Village Community Specialist Tina Serota as she welcomes Facilitator Pat Goldstein for the first Book Club gathering. This month, the group will discuss the novel, Remarkably Bright Creatures by Shelby Van Pelt. The story revolves around the life and relationship between a mischievous giant pacific octopus and a lovely lady who cleans the small town aquarium. Attend in-person at the Margate Library Meeting Room, 8100 Atlantic Avenue, Margate. RSVP by May 29.

Village Goes to the Ventnor Farmers Market

Friday, June 7, 14, 21 & 28 from 8:30am to 12pm

Come visit or volunteer to assist at the Village informational table at the Ventnor Farmers Market, located on New Haven and Atlantic Avenues in the St. James Church parking lot. Meet, greet and share your enthusiasm for Village events and services as you enjoy sunshine, sea air and an opportunity to shop from local farmers and vendors. Admission is free.

Women’s Coffee & Conversation: Women In War, Our Voices, Our Hearts

Monday, June 10 from 10:30am to 11:30am

Join Village Community Specialist Tina Serota, Bratton Law Group’s Jen Hand, Katz JCC’s Bridget Giblin, Angelic Health’s Carolyn Johnson Peterson, Alzheimer’s Association’s Mary Beth Lewis, and UMC’s Michele Musto as they host professional speakers on issues that impact a woman’s ability to live her best life. This month will focus on Women In War, Our Voices, Our Hearts with JFS DEI Officer Vickie Perry. Join us for an enlightening conversation about the far-reaching consequences of conflict and violence around the world on women and their families. The program will shed light on the impact of war on women and the transformative potential of women's voices in positions of power to promote diplomacy and peace. Attend in-person at the Katz JCC Boardroom, 501 North Jerome Avenue, Margate. RSVP by June 6.

Memory Connections

Monday, June 10 from 1pm to 2:30pm

Join Village Community Specialist Tina Serota, Alzheimer’s Association’s Mary Beth Lewis, Angelic Health’s Carolyn Johnson Peterson, Bratton Law Group’s Jen Hand, UMC’s Michele Musto, and Katz JCC’s Bridget Giblin for a gathering of Caregivers of loved ones with Dementia and the person living with the disease. Caregivers will participate in a support group led by a trained professional while their loved one will enjoy a socialization activity. Light refreshments will be served. Attend in-person at the Katz JCC Boardroom, 501 North Jerome Avenue, Margate. RSVP by June 6.

Village Film Society

Tuesday, June 11 from 10:30am to 11:30am

Join Village Film Enthusiast & Historic Cinematic Buff Tom Celandine and Village Community Specialist Tina Serota for a discussion about the George Lucas and Francis Ford Coppola movie, American Graffiti, starring Ron Howard, Harrison Ford, and Richard Dreyfuss. This 1960s coming of age comedy-drama follows a group of teens and their adventures over the course of a single night. The star-studded movie can be viewed on Netflix, YouTube, Apple TV, Amazon Prime, Google Play, and Hulu and is available at the Ventnor and Margate libraries. This program is via Zoom and a link will be emailed. RSVP by June 10.

Lunch Around Town

Tuesday, June 18 from 12pm to 1:30pm

Enjoy a leisurely lunch with friends while supporting a local restaurant. This month, we’ll dine at La Cucina Ristorante, 1205 Tilton Road in Northfield. Come prepared for good food and conversation. Order off the menu and pay individually. RSVP by June 14.

Coffee Klatch Presents: AJC’s Annual Antisemitism in America’s Report

Thursday, June 20 from 10:30am to 12pm

Join Village Community Specialist Tina Serota, The Sara and Sam Schoffer Holocaust Resource Center at Stockton University Director Irvin Moreno-Rodriguez, and Board of Jewish Education Director Josh Cutler as they welcome Marcia Bronstein, Regional Director of the American Jewish Committee (AJC) Philadelphia/Southern New Jersey. With 40 years of experience in design and advocacy for programmatic initiatives, engagement with diplomats, elected officials and interfaith leaders, Ms. Bronstein will present the findings of the AJC’s Annual Antisemitism in America Report 2023, which assesses and compares Jewish and the general population’s perceptions of and experiences with antisemitism yearly, in the nation. A Q&A session will follow. Attend in-person at the Katz JCC Boardroom, 501 North Jerome Avenue, Margate. RSVP by June 17.

Memoir Workshop

Friday, June 28 from 10:30am to 12pm

Experience the thrill of capturing life’s adventures, history, and ancestry and learn about publishing your work at the Memoir Workshop led by award-winning author and Drexel University Director of Certificate Program in Writing and Publishing, Harriet Levin Millan. A laptop or pen and paper is needed. This program is via Zoom and a link will be emailed. RSVP by June 24.
