In December, The Lynn Kramer Village by the Shore at Jewish Family Service will offer eight interactive, unique, and entertaining programs. As the year comes to close, plan to participate with friends, family and neighbors and enjoy these virtual and in-person activities.

Lunch Around Town

Tuesday, December 5 from 12pm to 1:30pm

Enjoy a leisurely lunch with friends while supporting a local restaurant. This month, we’ll dine at Downbeach Deli, 8 South Essex Avenue in Margate. Come prepared for good food and conversation. Order off the menu and pay individually. RSVP by Nov. 29.

Positivity Project: Morning Refresh

Thursday, December 7 from 10:30am to 11:30am

Start the holiday season in an upbeat way! Explore positivity with JFS Wellness Coordinator Mary Jean Arreola and Village Community Specialist Tina Serota. You’ll learn ways to boost wellness – mind, body and soul. Topics include self-care, mindfulness, gratitude, meditation and resiliency. RSVP by Dec. 5.

The Village Film Society

Tuesday, December 12 from 10:30am to 11:30am

Join Village Film Enthusiast and Historic Cinematic Buff Tom Celandine and Village Community Specialist Tina Serota for a discussion about the movie, It’s a Wonderful Life, starring Jimmy Stewart and Donna Reed. Nominated for five Academy Awards, this supernatural drama about a man who has given up on his personal dreams and has thoughts of suicide bring an intervention from his guardian angel who shows him all of the lives he would have touched and what the world would be like if he did not exist. Available on DVD through the Atlantic County Library System or may be viewed (streamed) on Plex (free), Prime Video, Google Play, iTunes, Amazon or Vudu. RSVP by Dec. 7.

Village Holiday Social

Thursday, December 14 from 4pm to 6pm

Guests will enjoy an early evening holiday get together while spending time with friends and neighbors. Dance to seasonal music performed live by the band, Even Betta, and enjoy refreshments and a chance to win door prizes. The festivities take place in the Katz JCC Auditorium, 501 North Jerome Avenue in Margate. This event is free for Holocaust Survivors, Village Members, and JCC Members. For non-members, the cost is $5 payable prior to Dec. 6.

Memoir Workshop

Friday, December 15 from 10:30am to 12pm

Experience the thrill of capturing your life’s adventures, history, and ancestry with the Memoir Workshop led by award-winning author and Drexel University Director of Certificate Program in Writing and Publishing, Harriet Levin Millan. You will need a laptop or pen/paper for the workshop. This month, the workshop will be via Zoom only and a link will be emailed. RSVP by Dec. 11.

Comfort Cooking Light & Delicious: Healthy Holiday Eating & Living

Tuesday, December 19 from 10:30am to 11:30am

Join gourmet cook and healthy eating enthusiast Tina Serota for a recipe swap as you share ideas for eating well and staying healthy during the holiday season, both physically and mentally. Whether you participate in a sit-down family dinner, brunch or lunch with friends, grab and go while running errands or a quiet holiday for one, you’ll learn how to find joy, laughter and light this holiday season. Coffee Klatch

Thursday, December 21 from 10:30am to 11:30am

Your world in 60 minutes! Join a fast-paced discussion on politics, technology, world events, arts, religion, and more. Also, there will be an update on the war in Israel and the increase of antisemitism. Moderated by Tina Serota. Attend in-person at the Katz JCC Boardroom, 501 North Jerome Avenue in Margate or via Zoom and a link will be emailed to you. RSVP by Dec. 18.

The Lynn Kramer Village by the Shore is a membership program for adults age 50+. The program offers Grocery Shopping & Delivery, Intergenerational Events, Transportation, Kosher Meals on Wheels and more.
