Marichelle Sunseri Named Director of Grants & Accounting for JFS

Marichelle Sunseri has been appointed to the position of Director of Grants & Accounting for Jewish Family Service of Atlantic & Cape May Counties (JFS). In this multi-faceted role, Marichelle will work collaboratively with the grants team to develop strategies, provide financial acumen for applications, and oversee progress to ensure timeliness of reports. In addition, she will monitor the status of each submission and make certain budgets are reflective of grants awarded to the agency.

“I am excited to continue my accounting career at Jewish Family Service. I wanted to stay in nonprofit accounting after relocating from Pennsylvania and was thrilled to be offered the position at JFS. As part of the Finance team, I hope to continue to support the agency in its mission and core values,” said Sunseri.

Most recently, Marichelle held the position of Accounting Manager at Outreach Center for Community Resources in Scranton, PA, where she oversaw Accounts Payable and Receivable, Payroll, Auditing, Grants and Fundraising reconciliations. With nearly 30 years of financial and business expertise in the public and private sector, Marichelle maintains proficiency in bookkeeping, grants, and payroll tax accounting.

Marichelle is a candidate for a Masters in Taxation from the University of Akron and a graduate of Wittenberg University where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration. She also maintains a nonprofit accreditation from the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA).

Marichelle is replacing Mara Bienstock, who is retiring from JFS. A nearly ten-year staff member, Mara previously held the positions of Director of Grants & Accounting and Chief Financial Officer.
