Autumn is a delightful time to enjoy cool breezes and fun programs with Jewish Family Service of Atlantic & Cape May Counties (JFS). In October, we’ll showcase 11 entertaining, informational and thought-provoking programs through The Lynn Kramer Village by the Shore. Plan to participate with friends, family and neighbors.

Positivity Project: Morning Refresh

Thursday, October 6 from 10:30am to 11:30am

Start your day in an upbeat way! Explore positivity with JFS Wellness Coordinator Mary Jean Arreola and Village Community Specialist Tina Serota. You’ll learn ways to boost wellness – mind, body and soul. Topics include self-care, mindfulness, gratitude, meditation and resiliency. RSVP by October 3.

Open Enrollment Medicare Seminar: Hybrid

Friday, October 7 from 10:30am to 11:30am

October starts the Medicare Open Enrollment Period. This is the one time per year seniors may make a change to their prescription or supplemental/advantage plans. Join Amanda Reese from Hafetz and Associates for a presentation about Medicare options. The seminar will feature details about Medicare Part A and Part B, Part C Advantage plans, Part D Prescription plans and supplemental coverage. Following the presentation, there will be a Q&A session. Attend in-person at the Katz JCC Boardroom, 501 North Jerome Avenue in Margate or from home via Zoom. Mask encouraged for in-person. The Village Movie Society

Tuesday, October 11 from 10:30am to 11:30am

Join Tina Serota for a discussion about the movie, Hillbilly Elegy, which is based on the early life of J.D. Vance, the Republican candidate for Senate in Ohio. An urgent family matter brings him back to his hometown to reflect on three generations of family history and his future. This movie can be viewed on Netflix. RSVP by October 6.

BINGO

Wednesday, October 12 from 1pm to 2pm

Join friends and neighbors for an afternoon of BINGO games and prizes with Tina Serota. BINGO cards will be delivered to those who register in advance. This event is free for Holocaust Survivors and Village Members. For non-members, the cost is $5 payable prior to October 6.

Lunch Around Town

Thursday, October 13 from 12pm to 1:30pm

Enjoy a leisurely lunch with friends and neighbors while supporting a local restaurant. This month, we’ll dine at Gilchrist Downbeach, 9400 Atlantic Avenue in Margate. Come prepared for good food and fun conversation. Order off the menu and pay individually. Members receive a 15% discount off the menu with their Village membership card. RSVP by October 6.

Memoir Workshop: Hybrid

Friday, October 14 from 10:30am to 12pm

Experience the thrill of capturing your life’s adventures, history and ancestry at a Memoir Workshop led by award-winning author and Drexel University Professor of Creative Writing and Publishing, Harriet Levin Millan. Comfort Cooking Light & Delicious: Fall Harvest

Join Bernadette Getzler as she takes you on a food journey using farm fresh ingredients. You’ll learn to cook your favorite fall harvest recipes in new and inventive ways by taking existing ingredients and substituting healthier options. Learn to view comfort food in a whole new way! Positivity Project: Evening Retreat

Wednesday, October 19 from 7pm to 7:30pm

Join JFS Wellness Coordinator Mary Jean Arreola and Tina Serota for an evening retreat. Shed the cares of the day and prepare for a restful night. We’ll cover a wide range of topics including self-care, mindfulness, gratitude, meditation, and resiliency. RSVP by October 17.

Coffee Klatch: Hybrid

Your world in 90 minutes! Join a fast-paced discussion on politics, technology, world events, arts, religion, and more. Moderated by Tina Serota. Evening Yoga with Candice

Monday, October 24 from 7pm to 8pm

Join Candice Martin for a Yoga class via Zoom. Find balance and tranquility while experiencing mental, physiological and spiritual rejuvenation. Burn off excess energy through gentle body movements, wind down to a deeper state of relaxation and prepare for your evening rest. RSVP by October 19.

Village Trivia Challenge

Thursday, October 27 from 4pm to 5pm

Test your knowledge and compete for the top prize! Trivia topics include science, geography, history, music, theater, movies and more. This event is free for Holocaust Survivors and Village Members. For non-members, the cost is $5 payable prior to October 20.

The Lynn Kramer Village by the Shore is a membership program for adults over the age of 50.
