For many people, celebrating the holidays and welcoming a New Year is a time of joy, happiness and hope. However, for some, this season brings anxiety, added stressors, and uncertainty. Michael, at the young age of 9, dreads the holidays since his older sister died in a car accident. His family will never be the same. He is just one of the children receiving counseling with a JFS therapist specializing in trauma and grief. Michael is learning to cope with his depression and loneliness. They meet every Tuesday, where Michael benefits from the tools and resources to better handle and express his emotions, manage triggers and embrace life change.
