If you’re looking to enjoy entertaining and informative programs and activities in May, check out these Lynn Kramer Village by the Shore at Jewish Family Service (JFS) programs. Be sure to invite friends, family, and neighbors to participate in one or more of them.

Positivity Project: Morning Refresh

Wednesday, May 3 from 10:30am to 11:30am

Start your day in an upbeat way! Explore positivity with JFS Wellness Coordinator Mary Jean Arreola and Village Community Specialist Tina Serota. You’ll learn ways to boost wellness – mind, body, and soul. Topics include self-care, mindfulness, gratitude, meditation, and resiliency. RSVP by May 1.

Village Film Society

Tuesday, May 9 from 10:30am to 11:30am

Join Village Community Specialist Tina Serota for a discussion about the motion picture, His Girl Friday, starring Cary Grant and Rosalind Russell. The movie portrays a fast talking reporter getting ready to marry her new beau as her crafty former spouse schemes to ruin the nuptials in this classic Hollywood comedy. The film can be viewed free on tubitv.com. RSVP by May 7.

Book Talk: A Conversation with Local Author Harriet Levin Millan

Thursday, May 11 from 7pm to 8pm

Join award-winning local Author and Poet, Village Memoir Workshop Teacher, and Drexel University Director of Certificate Program in Writing and Publishing, Harriet Levin Millan, as she discusses her books of poetry and the heart-wrenching story behind her first novel, How Fast Can You Run. Professor Millan’s books are available on Amazon. Attend in-person at the Katz JCC Boardroom, 501 North Jerome Avenue in Margate. RSVP by May 4.

Memoir Workshop: Hybrid

Friday, May 12 from 10:30am to 12pm

Experience the thrill of capturing your life’s adventures, history, and ancestry at the Memoir Workshop led by award-winning author and Drexel University Director of Certificate Program in Writing and Publishing, Harriet Levin Millan. Learn about publishing your work. You need a laptop or pen/paper for the workshop. Attend in-person at the Katz JCC Boardroom, 501 North Jerome Avenue in Margate or via Zoom. RSVP by May 8.

Comfort Cooking: Light & Delicious

Tuesday, May 16 from 10:30am to 11:30am

Join Bernadette Getzler, healthy eating and gardening guru, as she takes you on a food journey using farm fresh ingredients. You’ll learn to cook seasonal and Memorial Day recipes in new and creative ways by taking existing ingredients and substituting healthier options. RSVP by May 12.

Wednesday, May 17 from 7pm to 7:30pm

Coffee Klatch with a Special Focus Program

Thursday, May 18 from 10:30am to 12pm

Join Village Community Specialist Tina Serota and JCC Adult and Community Service Director Bridget Giblin in welcoming Devon Ziminski and her team from the Senator Walter Rand Institute for Public Affairs, Rutgers University, for a focus group discussion, Violence in Our Communities. We’ll discuss the causes, prevention, policing, programs, and more. Bring your thoughts and plan to engage in conversation with the team who will share concerns with decision makers whose choices impact future generations. Light refreshments will be served and a gift for those in attendance. The program takes place in the Katz JCC Boardroom, 501 North Jerome Avenue in Margate. RSVP by May 15.

Lunch Around Town

Friday, May 19 from 12pm to 1:30pm

Enjoy a leisurely lunch with friends and neighbors while supporting a local restaurant. This month, we’ll dine at Bocca Coal Fired Bistro, 7805 Ventnor Avenue in Margate. Come prepared for good food and fun conversation. Order off the menu. Pay individually. RSVP by May 12.

Evening Yoga with Candace

Monday, May 22 from 7pm to 8pm

Join Candace Martin for a Yoga class via Zoom. Find balance and tranquility while experiencing mental, physiological and spiritual rejuvenation as you enjoy quiet stillness and gentle body moves that burn off excess energy. Wind down to a deeper state of relaxation and prepare for your evening rest. RSVP by May 15.

SCOSA Festival on Successful Aging

Tuesday, May 23 from 10am to 2pm

Visit Village Community Specialist Tina Serota as she hosts a table at the Stockton Center for Successful Aging festival, which coincides with National Older Americans Month. The festival will explore diverse aging experiences as well as how older adults remain engaged, independent, and included. The National Director of Village to Village Network Barbara Hughes Sullivan will be the keynote speaker for the Vibrant Villages Empowering Communities session. The festival takes place at Stockton University, 101 Vera King Farris Drive in Galloway Township. Admission is free.

The Lynn Kramer Village by the Shore is a membership program for adults age 50+. The program provides Intergenerational Events, Transportation, Grocery Shopping & Delivery, Kosher Meals on Wheels and more.
