To continue to help combat hunger in the community, Jewish Family Service of Atlantic & Cape May Counties (JFS) is expanding its on-site agency Food Pantry based in Margate. For the past several years, an average of 2,000 people would utilize the pantry annually. Since the onset of the pandemic in March 2020, the JFS Pantry has distributed in excess of 50,000 pounds of food to more than 7,300 people throughout the county and the need for assistance continues to rise.

JFS' hunger relief services are often what brings community members to JFS for the first time, where they can then receive additional wrap-around support. JFS' on-site Food Pantry acts as the hub for all of JFS' hunger relief and nutrition services. Currently, the pantry serves non-perishable essentials including tuna, cereal, pasta, rice, canned vegetables, mac-n-cheese, oatmeal and hearty soups.

Along with more than doubling the size of the pantry space, the agency plans to add perishable products, fresh produce, vegetables, meats and protein rich foods. The modified JFS Pantry will include two wings with a complete Family Pantry catering to children age five and younger with diapers, wipes, formula, rice cereal and other necessities.

The community is welcome to join JFS in the fight against hunger! JFS is offering exclusive opportunities for the Pantry, which range from $500 to $1,000,000. From recognition on reusable grocery bags to building signage and naming rights, there are a variety of ways to support JFS in its evolution to assure no one goes hungry in our community. For more information about the JFS Pantry Naming Opportunities, please contact Beth Joseph at bjoseph@jfsatlantic.org or 609.822.7409.

The JFS Food Pantry will continue normal operations during the construction period. For those in need of emergency food, the Food Pantry is open to Atlantic County residents Monday through Friday from 9am to 3pm daily. Drive-through or walk-up options are available for the health and safety of recipients, staff and volunteers.
