SUMMARY:VILLAGE SOCIAL: The End of Ambition: America's Past\, Present\, & Future in the Middle East
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a dessert reception with Author Steven Cook\, Eni Enrico Mattei Senior Fellow for Middle East and Africa studies at the Foreign Relations Council\, to discuss his book\, The End of Ambition. As one of the country’s leading experts on Middle East politics and U.S. foreign policy\, Cook will discuss the defining foreign policy debates of our time. After decades of war\, upheaval\, and frustration in the Middle East\, some argue the U.S. should step back and Cook challenges that assumption. Drawing on over 75 years of history\, he argues while America made mistakes\, it has largely succeeded in protecting interests in the region. In this timely and wide-ranging conversation\, Cook will explore what went wrong\, lessons learned\, and what a more disciplined and realistic American strategy in the Middle East should look like today. Attend in-person at Beth Israel\, 2501 Shore Road\, Northfield. RSVP by April 10.
