Associate Director of Communications & Donor Relations

Job Summary/Purpose

The Associate Director of Communications and Donor Relations will be responsible for conceptualizing events, preparing and managing timelines, coordinating technical aspects of the events, generating media interest and coverage, processing invoices, marketing, managing event staff, preparing expenditure reports, and managing risk. Creativity and resourcefulness in organizing and hosting successful events that meet organization objectives, engage clients and donors, inspires confidence in JFS brand and communicates brand strategy to internal and external stakeholders. Deliberate attention will be attributed to social media maintenance, as well as conducting activities relative to agency fundraising and donor solicitation.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Create, oversee, plan, organize and conduct agency fundraising and special events (Cocktail Party, Golf Tournament, Card Party, House Tour, etc.)
  • Conduct activities for annual solicitations and campaigns (includes direct mail and face-to-face request)
  • Oversee and develop all agency marketing including website, branding, social media, printed materials, etc.
  • Engage in development activities, including (but not limited to) solicitation letters, newsletter, and development cultivation and special events
  • Organize ongoing art calendar and projects in conjunction with designer
  • Manage agency related social media (recommended 3 to 5 post per week per site).
  • Serve as the agency point person for all marketing/outreach events and collateral.
  • Work in collaboration with program staff and volunteer committees
  • Assure accuracy and quality of donor database; input gifts and update records as needed
  • Act as a liaison between the Senior Department Director and Board of Directors, CEO, Committee members and agency department staff.

Position Requirements

  • Education – Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Public Relations, Communications or related field.
  • Experience
    • Minimum 3-5 years of demonstrated success performing event coordination, public relations, social media, proposal creation, and donor solicitation experience preferred.
    • Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience
    • Experience in non-profit organization
    • Word, Outlook, Excel, Constant Contact and Donor Perfect is preferred
    • Proactive, quick and versatile learner in a fast paced environment
    • Problem Solver – Ability to proactively correct issues or programs that may arise
    • Impeccable addition to detail
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with donors, staff, board and volunteers.
    • Must have exceptional time management, project management and organizational skills
    • Enthusiasm for managing multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Fleet - Position requires ability to drive. When using agency or own vehicle, employee must have a Valid NJ driver’s license and proof of NJ Auto Insurance).
  • Working Conditions - from regular evening and weekend work, shift work, working outdoors.
