“Project Joseph” Provides Winter Coats for JFS Clients
Posted on January 05, 2010
JFS Volunteer Coordinator Leigh Turner receives coats from Tammy Spanier, creator of "Project Joseph"
When Tammy Spanier taught her students at Beth El Synagogue about tzedakah, she wanted to do more than lecture; she wanted the children to get involved. The classes began toy drives and eventually moved to a coat drive which was called “Project Joseph”. Tammy included her own children, Michael and Ariel, who helped run the project while in High School.
The idea behind “Project Joseph” is that everyone deserves a new winter coat. Through the generous donations of synagogue members and the greater community, clients of Jewish Family Service have been receiving new coats. To date, every request has been fulfilled. Leigh Turner, Volunteer Coordinator at Jewish Family Service, said “Without Tammy’s hard work and dedication to our agency, many people would not know the joy of owning a new warm coat during these cold winter months.”
Thank you to everyone involved in “Project Joseph” for another successful year.
