“Par Mitzvah” Golf Tournament & Card Party
Posted on April 08, 2011
Jewish Family Service will host their 13th Annual Women’s Golf Tournament and Card Party on Thursday, May 19, 2011. More than 100 golfers and nearly 100 Bridge, Canasta and Mah Jong players are expected to gather at Linwood Country Club for this annual outing entitled “Par Mitzvah” to benefit the agency’s children’s and family services as well as older adult programs.
Beginning at 8 a.m. for golfers, this incredible event includes 18 holes of golf, contests and lunch, as well as a variety of fabulous prizes. The card party kicks off at 11 a.m. with games (Bridge, Canasta and Mah Jong) followed by lunch and, of course, lots of great prizes.
This year, the committee developed the Mitzvah project to provide children in need with meals throughout the summer. A “mitzvah” is known as a good deed or an act of human kindness. In 2009, 16,192 Atlantic County students in need received two free or reduced cost meals per day at school. However, during the summer children do not receive this supplement. The project goal is to raise $18,000. This Mitzvah fund will provide 3,600 meals for children throughout the summer. Donating an amount as small as $18 provides a child lunch for one week.
Presented by Cape Bank Charitable Foundation, the 13th Annual Women’s Golf Tournament begins with registration and breakfast at 8:00 a.m. The Card Party begins at 11 a.m. followed by lunch at Linwood Country Club. Tickets are available for $130 per golfer, $500 per foursome and $50 per card player. Sponsorships are also available. Donations are tax-deductible.
