JFS MAKES THE HOLIDAYS BRIGHTER FOR HUNDREDS OF LOCAL FAMILIES

Jewish Family Service of Atlantic and Cape May Counties (JFS) has once again made the holidays brighter for hundreds of families living in our community.  Each year, JFS partners with local businesses, community members and synagogues to ensure that every child receives a present to open during the holidays. This year, the agency provided toys, clothes and gifts to more than 200 children and families.

“Whether providing holiday toys, supplying hearty meals or giving children new shoes, JFS is continuing to meet the basic needs of members in our community,” said JFS Executive Director Andrea Steinberg. “With the support of local businesses and our community, JFS is able to expand and assist even more individuals and families.”

Christina Rubenstein owner of Too Too Cute Tutus donated tutus, shirts and hair accessories while Beth Israel Preschool donated dozens of toys collected over the past month.  In addition, 45 children received vouchers for brand new shoes, compliments of Payless Gives, an annual giving program from Payless ShoeSource. Once again this year, Tammy Spanier along with Beth El Synagogue conducted “Project Joseph,” a drive to collect new winter coats for JFS clients.  The drive collected 75 brand new coats for clients in need of winter wear.

Jewish Family Service serves 3,000 local individuals per year through a variety of services.  Responding to the needs of the community, JFS offers counseling, case management, and an array of other services including family and children’s programs, older adult assistance, autism support, Kosher Meals-on-Wheels, a community food pantry and diabetes advocacy.

Jewish Family Service is still collecting new coats, hats, scarves, gloves and socks. For more information, please contact 609-822-1108.
