JFS HOSTS ANNUAL HOLIDAY TURKEY DRIVE
Posted on October 18, 2010
Jewish Family Service of Atlantic and Cape May Counties is holding its annual Holiday Turkey Drive to provide families with turkeys and trimmings throughout the holiday season. Despite the generous donations during our High Holiday Food Drive, the number of people needing food makes it an ongoing challenge to keep the pantry shelves stocked. To ensure that we successfully meet the needs of individuals and families throughout the holiday season, JFS is kicking off its annual Butterball Turkey Drive. With Thanksgiving quickly approaching, JFS will be collecting monetary donations to purchase turkeys for members of our community in need.
Here are ways the community can help:
1. Make a donation of $25 to purchase a Butterball turkey or Kosher turkey (upon request). This gives an individual or family a Butterball turkey certificate which can be used to purchase a holiday turkey. Donations of higher amounts allow the recipient to purchase holiday trimmings such as cranberry sauce, stuffing and other necessary staples to accompany the holiday bird.
2. Make a donation of canned goods. Non-perishable food donations such as stuffing, canned corn, cranberry sauce and other side dishes are perfect to complete the holiday meal. JFS also encourages donations of peanut butter, tuna fish, soups, pasta and cereals to offer our clients a balanced diet throughout the year. Canned good donations can be made at JFS or all 10 Ocean City Home Bank branch locations.
3. Spread the word. By reaching out to others in the community, you can help individuals and families during these hard times. Enlighten your neighbors, friends, family members, colleagues and Facebook friends about this year’s JFS Turkey Drive and Food Pantry.
To purchase a Butterball Turkey Certificate for a family in need, please visit the Butterball Turkey Drive page or call 609-822-1108. Jewish Family Service accepts non-perishable food donations throughout the year. If you have a question regarding the JFS Food Pantry or how you can assist, please contact Leigh Turner via email.
