JEWISH FAMILY SERVICE INTRODUCES ATLANTIC INTERFAITH COLLABORATIVE, Hosts Volunteer Training Seminar

Jewish Family Service is proud to announce the implementation of the Atlantic Interfaith Collaborative. This program provides assistance to those in need through friendly visits from members of their place of worship.
Jewish Family Service is looking for volunteers for one hour a week. All volunteers are trained and visits are coordinated by JFS. The volunteer training for this program is scheduled for June 24, 2010 from 6pm until 7:30pm at Jewish Family Service, 607 N. Jerome Avenue in Margate.
“The volunteer visitor fulfills a sacred role by showing compassion and providing a connection to the community,” explains BJ Pinnock, Director of Older Adult Services. “Thanks to funding by the State of New Jersey Department of State Office of Faith-Based Initiatives, JFS is able to expand our outreach into the community through new partnerships with various area synagogues, churches and mosques.”
Second Baptist Church of Atlantic City, The Redeemed Church of Christ, and Congregation Beth Judah have already joined the Atlantic Interfaith Collaborative efforts. The program weaves a “safety net” of support that reduces the isolation and helps to improve the quality of life for homebound, ailing and lonely individuals. Friendly visitors may be asked to assist with transportation, grocery shopping, and running errands.
