JFS Herb Dinner Raises More Than $7,500 for Agency Health & Wellness Initiatives

The JFS Herb Dinner, held at Steve & Cookie’s By the Bay on November 9th, raised more than $7,500 for the agency’s health and wellness initiatives. Hosted by Cookie Till, the dinner brought together more than 75 guests for a three-course vegan and gluten free meal made with seasonal herbs and vegetables, all perfectly complimented with red and white wines. The meal featured dishes such as pho with roasted butter nut squash, beets with smashed avocado, broccoli rabe, roasted cauliflower, and more.

The Herb Dinner expresses to the community to lack of nutritional options as well as the challenges many community members face when it comes to living a healthy lifestyle, especially those with mental illness or other barriers. Herbalist Gayle Gross went around to each table offering education and information about the nutritional benefits of each dish enjoyed throughout the evening.

“It is wonderful to see new faces join us each year for this one-of-a kind event,” said Andrea Steinberg, CEO of JFS. “We greatly appreciate Cookie hosting this annual dinner, Gayle for her knowledge and insight and all of the community members who participated, helping us once again make this fundraising event a great success.”

JFS Health and Wellness Initiatives provide numerous benefits to agency consumers such as physical activity, interaction with peers and healthy lifestyle education. Throughout the year, the agency also partners with AtlantiCare to offer ongoing health and wellness events for consumers, including a healthy dinner made with vegetables from the Community Garden as well as nutrition workshops.
