Cape Bank Charitable Foundation Continues Support of JFS with $60,000 Donation

Posted on January 14, 2016

The Cape Bank Charitable Foundation is proud to announce its support of Jewish Family Service (JFS) as a community partner in 2016. As a Visionary Sponsor of the agency, the Foundation will once again donate $60,000 to JFS. These funds will be used throughout the year for areas where the agency has the most need such as counseling, transportation, food pantry, etc. Over the past seven years, Cape Bank has donated more than $280,000 to JFS.

“We are very proud of our community partner, Cape Bank, for their recent expansion. The Bank and Foundation’s dedication to supporting community organizations has made a difference in countless community members lives,” said Andrea Steinberg, JFS CEO. “We are grateful to receive this generous donation which allows JFS to help so many individuals and families in need.”

In addition to the financial contribution, Cape Bank supports the agency in a variety of ways including collections, volunteering and hosting the Cape Bank Summer Food Drive. This food drive, held yearly, collects essential non-perishables for children while they are out of school. The 2015 summer food drive collected dozens of bags of pantry essentials such as peanut butter, cereal, hearty soups, canned vegetables and more.

Cape Bank also provides a variety of volunteer resources through “Cape Cares”, the Cape Bank employee volunteer program. Cape Bank employees not only volunteer at the summer food drive but also assist JFS with community events, such as the annual House Tour. These initiatives help JFS to provide essential support in the community.

The Cape Bank Charitable Foundation was formed in January 2008 in order to solidify Cape Bank’s commitment to the community. The Foundation allows the entire community to share in the growth of Cape Bank and enhance the strong partnership the bank has already created in the area. In recent years, the Foundation established a partnership with several charitable organizations in the areas they serve, including JFS. The goal of the Cape Bank Charitable Foundation is to assist in the enhancement of the quality of living through the support of these organizations, dedicated to health and human services. The Board of the Cape Bank Charitable Foundation felt that a partnership with JFS was a perfect fit because of the agency’s dedication to encouraging strong families, thriving children, healthy adults, energized seniors and vital communities.

“We are humbled and honored by the outstanding changes JFS and our partner organizations help to create,” said Michael D. Devlin, President and CEO of Cape Bank. “The work they do is remarkable and together, we can change the course for good in our local communities.”

With the support of many generous donors, like the CapeBank Charitable Foundation, Jewish Family Service serves more than 8,500 local individuals per year through a variety of services.  Responding to the needs of the community, JFS offers counseling, case management, and an array of other services including family and children’s programs, older adult assistance, autism support, Kosher Meals-on-Wheels, a community food pantry and diabetes advocacy.
