Village by the Shore Offers Free 30-Day Trash Valet
Posted on February 13, 2015
Tired of making late night trips to the curb before trash day? Do you have trouble lifting the heavy can each week? Village by the Shore, a Jewish Family Service initiative, is offering a free 30-day trash valet from March 1st – March 30th for Margate residents age 50+. This complimentary service will have JFS trained volunteers place your trash and recycling at the curb for trash pick-up and return the empty cans back to the house.
Village by the Shoreprovides a variety of concierge, volunteer and professional services and socialization for adults (50+) in Atlantic County. The Village model enables members to enjoy life in their own homes through the concept of neighbors helping neighbors. While the Village is not a physical place, it is a network allowing individuals to get the most from their community at any stage of life.
“Trash valet is just one of the many services Village by the Shore provides and we are excited to showcase this service to non-Village members in Margate,” said Melissa Bollinger, Director ofVillage by the Shore. “This is a great example of just how important neighbors helping neighbors is to our community.”
JFS and Village by the Shore have more than 200 volunteers to assist the community. Volunteers are the backbone of the Village. From running errands to helping put away groceries to trash valet, Village volunteers help the community in a variety of ways.
“Offering the free trash valet service is not only a great opportunity for Margate residents to experience what Village by the Shore offers, but it is also a way for them to meet our friendly volunteers who will take out their trash and recycling,” said Leigh Turner, JFS Community Initiatives Coordinator.
