Village by the Shore Hosts Open House for National Healthcare Decisions Day on April 16

Village by the Shore, a JFS program that provides services and socialization to Atlantic County residents age 50+, will be hosting a National Health Decisions Day Open House on April 16th from 10am-2pm at Jewish Family Service (607 North Jerome Avenue, Margate). National Healthcare Decisions Day offers older adults across the country an opportunity to discuss the healthcare decision making process and their future care options.
This event will be the first for the JFS Benefits Enrollment Center which helps people on/or eligible for Medicare enroll for appropriate benefits. Designated by the National Council on Aging, the Benefits Enrollment Center strives to help older adults, many with low income, accessMedicare programs that pay for prescription drugs, medical care, food, utility assistance and more. Open House attendees will have an early opportunity to register for a one-on-one enrollment meeting.
Representatives from Village by the Shore will also be on hand to provide information on their services such as grocery assistance, transportation and social activities to help adults and older adults maintain and happy and healthy lifestyle in their own homes and community.
“This open house is a great opportunity for older adults, at different stages of life, to learn and discuss their various options,” said Melissa Bollinger, Director of Village by the Shore. “FromVillage by the Shore services to healthcare decisions and Medicare benefits, we are here to provide quality services and information for older adults and their families.”
Additional information will be made available on a variety of services such as Advanced Directives, choosing a home care agency, and hospice care services. Social services staff and representatives will be available during the open house to answer any questions, or make appointments for further consultations.
