JFS Expands Finance Department CFO Mara Bienstock Joins Management Team

Jewish Family Service (JFS) selected Mara Bienstock as Chief Financial Officer for the non-profit agency. JFS added the CFO position as a result of growing programs, services and budget which currently stands at $11.3 million annually.
She will be responsible for providing leadership and accountability for all areas of the agency’s financial operations. This includes budget development, accounting systems coordination and business plan forecasts. In addition to providing executive management regarding the agency’s business model, Mara will oversee the Accounting, Finance and Billing staff to sustain the effective team dynamic established within the agency.
“We have expanded and grown over the past two years and the addition of a CFO completes our hard-working and dedicated finance team,” said Andrea Steinberg, JFS Chief Executive Officer. “We are excited to have Mara with our agency and feel she will bring another level of expertise to the financial arena.”
Previously Mara served as Financial Officer at Samost Jewish Family & Children’s Service of Southern New Jersey in Cherry Hill. Under her tenure, the agency doubled its staff and tripled its operating budget. She maintained the financial viability of the agency working alongside the management team and Board of Directors.

A graduate of State University of New York at Binghamton, Mara Bienstock started her career in public accounting before relocating to New Jersey. She joined the non-profit sector in 2002. Mara is also an active supporter of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, United Way and Jewish Federation. A mother of three, she now resides in Margate, NJ with her husband.
