James Klinghoffer Donates $25,000 to JFS, Encourages Community to Raise Matching Funds
Posted on December 01, 2014
James Klinghoffer is a long-time philanthropist in the community, especially regarding nursing and nutrition. He has generously donated to Jewish Family Service year after year. In mid-November, Klinghoffer donated $25,000 to provide Thanksgiving meals for hundreds who might otherwise go without. This funding also supports the James Klinghoffer Nursing & Nutrition program which provides a professional nurse’s assessment and personalized services for adults and older adults in our community.
From casino lay-offs to company cut-backs, thousands of individuals lives have been affected by the changes of the local economy and many will struggle this winter. Holiday meals only begin to scratch the surface when it comes to needs of the community. Locals are currently facing many other challenges including transportation, housing, employment, etc.
With needs constantly increasing, Klinghoffer is asking community members to match his contribution by donating funds to JFS. This will help the agency successfully meet the growing needs of individuals and families throughout the year. To date, JFS has received nearly $10,000 in matching gifts from ACME Markets, Steve & Cookie’s By the Bay and an anonymous donor.
“I encourage others to follow my lead and donate to causes that make an impact in the community,” said Klinghoffer. “Everyone should to give, no matter how big or small, because our community needs these services and programs.”
A strong and longtime supporter of Jewish Family Service, Klinghoffer founded the James Klinghoffer Nursing & Nutrition program in 2010 to offer seniors acomprehensive support system in order to develop and maintain a healthy and balanced lifestyle. As a result, seniors are able to reduce complications and decrease hospitalizations related to diet and medical needs.
To help match Mr. Klinghoffer’s gift, you can make your tax-deductible donation online or mail directly to JFS at 607 North Jerome Avenue in Margate.
