Federation Young Leadership Division Collects & Wraps Toys for Kids this Holiday Season

Posted on December 23, 2014

More than 20 members of the Jewish Federation Young Leadership Division (YLD) and their families gathered at Jewish Family Service on December 21st to help wrap gifts for children in need. Each year the YLD collects and wraps gifts which JFS then distributes to clients who are unable to provide a gift to their child during the holidays.

“It is wonderful to see the young leaders of the community come together and provide for local children in need,” said Andrea Steinberg, CEO of Jewish Family Service. “Each year when we gather for the gift wrapping day, it offers a great reminder of what the holiday season is all about, giving and being charitable to those less fortunate.”

During the YLD event “Vodka & Latkes” held on December 18th, each attendee was asked to bring a gift for a child, resulting in more than a hundred gifts for those in need. Gifts included toys and games for kids of all ages, clothes and gift cards.

“Our family looks forward to the gift wrapping day every year,” said Farah Burns, hostess for the annual Vodka & Latkes event. “It is not only a fun day, but it also teaches our kids in attendance that so many children go without during the holidays and this is just one tiny way we can bring a smile to their faces this year.”
