BJ’s Charitable Foundation Supports JFS for a Second Year

Posted on May 27, 2014

For a second year, Jewish Family Service of Atlantic and Cape May Counties (JFS) has received a $5,000 grant from BJ’s Charitable Foundation. The grant funding directly benefits The James Klinghoffer Nursing & Nutrition Program, which works to ensure that seniors in the community are able to sustain a healthy lifestyle through professional nursing assistants, personal shopping and case management. This continued support makes BJ’s Charitable Foundation a Leader Donor of the agency.

BJ’s Charitable Foundation was established with the goal of creating a positive, long-lasting impact on the communities BJ’s serves. Since its inception in 2005, BJ’s Charitable Foundation has donated nearly $19 million to over 2,100 community organizations. BJ’s Charitable Foundation concentrates funding to services which offer hunger prevention, self-sufficiency, healthcare and education to people in need.

“All of the organizations receiving grants offer amazing programs that make a huge impact on the communities we serve,” said Maggie Croft, Community Affairs Representative at BJ’s Wholesale Club. “We’re honored to be able to support these organizations in their mission to help people who have come on hard times with the necessities and services they need.”

The James Klinghoffer Nursing & Nutrition Program works to ensure that seniors in our community are able to maintain a healthy lifestyle. This unique program combines health education with food shopping assistance and nutrition planning. Through a professional nurse’s assessment, dietary plan and care, seniors are able to reduce complications of chronic conditions and decrease hospitalizations related to diet and medical needs. Other activities of the program include chronic health management education sessions conducted by a nurse educator, transportation to medical appointments, pharmacies and grocery stores, meal delivery and links to senior benefits.
