BJ’s Charitable Foundation Funds JFS Nursing & Nutrition Program
Posted on March 07, 2013
As a ‘go-to’ agency for Older Adult programs in the community, Jewish Family Service was recently selected as the recipient of $5,000 from the BJ’s Charitable Foundation. The grant funding directly benefits the James Klinghoffer Nursing & Nutrition Program which works to ensure that seniors in our community are able to sustain a healthy lifestyle through professional nursing assistance, personal shopping and case management.
BJ’s Charitable Foundation was established with the goal of creating a positive, long-lasting impact on the communities BJ’s serves. Since its first grant in 2005, BJ’s Charitable Foundation has allocated funds on a quarterly basis, giving more than $14 million to over 1,600 community organizations in the 15 states. BJ’s Charitable Foundation concentrates funding to services which offer hunger prevention, self-sufficiency, healthcare and education to people in need.
The grant support from the BJ’s Charitable Foundation enables JFS to purchase and transport food, as well as provide direct service and programming to older adults through the James Klinghoffer Nursing & Nutrition Program. This service improves the well being of seniors with limited income and multiple medical conditions. Through a professional nurse’s assessment, dietary plan and care, seniors are able to reduce complications and decrease hospitalizations related to diet and medical needs. The James Klinghoffer Nursing & Nutrition Program supplements the existing congregate and home-delivered meal programs in this community. It serves older adults who cannot get to a supermarket and who have strained financial resources.
